Review of Shin Godzilla
Today “Shin Godzilla (Godzilla Resurgence)” was on TV in Japan! I enjoyed this movie in the theater last year. It is praised highly in Japan.

What is Godzilla?
“Shin Godzilla(Godzilla Resurgence)” was released in 2016. It is the latest work for the first time in 12 years in the domestic “Godzilla” series. Screenplay & general manager is Hideaki Anno who is the director of the popular animation “Evangelion” series. The theme of this movie is “How will Japanese people fight when Godzilla appears in contemporary Japan?” The final box office revenue was 8.25 billion yen. This movie was released also in Asia and the US and so on.
What are “Godzilla” movies? They are Special effects movie series. “Godzilla” is the monster. The first work “Godzilla” (1954) was released about 60 years ago. Then, a total of 28 works were produced domestically until now. About 100 million people watched the “Godzilla” series. Hollywood version “GODZILLA” was released in 2014.
What is “Shin Godzilla” about?
“Shin Godzilla(Godzilla Resurgence)” is not a normal monster film. It has a political satire. This story’s theme is the survival of the country against the huge threat of Godzilla. Since the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake, awareness disaster risk management has greatly grown in Japan. Godzilla’s landing from the sea, its nuclear fusion in the body, and overwhelming power reminds Japanese people of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident. This movie says how the government, the SDF (Self-Defense Forces), and the Japanese will deal with natural and radioactivity disaster. I think that is the reason why it was a big hit. But non-Japanese may feel this movie bored…
